Refugee Class for Professionals in Art & Design // Module 03

Dear musicians!
In the week from May 2nd to May 4th it's all about music. Specifically we would like to pass on knowledge on how to work professionally with music in Germany. We would like to provide an insight into self-management, self marketing and an introduction to the german music economy. This is a program for refugee musicians who already have some experience with public performance.

In the week from May 2nd to May 4th, we will offer the following topics:

Monday, May 2nd , 2016

8pm: Excursion: Berliner Musiker Treff, Meeting Point “Zosch”, Tucholskystr. 30 (Next Station S-Bahnhof Oranienburger Straße). Berliner Musiker Treff is a meeting point for Berlin musicians to network, exchange experiences and discuss professional issues since 2012.

Support Refugees becomes COMMON GROUND

The search for a substitute for our working title Support Refugees for the AStA-Initiative for connecting and supporting students, refugees and social art projects at UdK finally has come to an end. COMMON GROUND will from now on be the name of our project. It has long been our wish to find a title that reinforces our understanding of a platform that goes beyond a one-sided helping structure. We want to establish a platform that enables the mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences in the university context between students and refugees. We want to promote encounters on equal terms and commmit ourselves to create room and time for this endeavour, to make a lasting impact on society.

Art made by refugees people

You've seen the headlines and heard the political rhetoric, but what do you really know about refugees?

On April 14th, we want to introduce the people behind the statistics. These are people with opinions, experiences and talents that enrich our lives for the better. Among a great variety of skills, we find artists whose artwork will be exhibited and appreciated at Impact Hub Berlin.

The organizer RESTART aims to support refugees in establishing themselves in the art business. People who had to give up everything will find our support in starting over, without having to leave their personality, creativity and previous careers behind. Stay tuned and follow their journey on an online marketplace that truly changes lives.

If you want to celebrate the power of creativity and arts while connecting with people from around the world, we hope you'll join us for this evening and help RESTART.

The event will take place on 04/14/16 @ Impact Hub Berlin.
