The seminar invites UdK students and international media artists and filmmakers who experienced migration or flight to engage in a dialogue about belonging, identity, migration and racism and the role and the possibilities of art. We want to break inflexible and exclusive debates creatively and allow change of perspective. Participants are teachers and students at the same time. Within the semester the participants will create a new video work and discuss working methods. We will go on excursions, visit exhibitions and screen films. Common Ground II is the continuation of the seminar „ Common Ground - Places of community“, in which we concentrated on new collectives and communities. Participation in the last seminar is no requirement for taking part in the new seminar.

This project esspecially suits students with a pedagogical focus, who can practically experience teaching children in schools. It will take place at each school's room of their Welcome Classes in the Charlottenburg / Wilmersdorf area. The evaluation of the project will be done in cooperation with the Grundschule der Künste. A project by the music lectureship students Johannes Vent, Sebastian Tomaszewski, Jeruscha Strelow and Ines Bellaliz.
